Backslide
There’s a dangerous point in a guitar player’s journey where it feels like they’re trying to run up a greased slide…
Where it seems like no matter how hard they try, how much they learn, or how much they practice...
They just spin their wheels…
Make little to no progress...
And slide right back down to where they started...
I call this the guitar backslide.
It’s that terrible rut where you get stuck playing the same old boring worn out, redundant stuff...
Mainly due to a combination of not being able to move around the fretboard...
Fingers that just won’t cooperate…
And invisible bad habits that quietly destroy your potential without you even noticing.
Yet even though you try your hardest to move forward…
Today’s world of “information overload” can drown you in a daunting sea of overwhelming, confusing, and frustrating symbols and charts and theories…
And a boatload of guitar “gurus” who go way too fast, assume you already know everything, or just play a million notes and show off.
The worst part? It leaves you feeling “lost”...
Like you’re wandering around in the desert... and slowly dying of thirst...
