I bought books, watched YouTube videos, and even took private lessons.

 

I did just what everyone told me to do…

Practicing scale after scale and trying my hardest to wrap my mind around all the theory.

 

But that only made my playing sound unnatural and mechanical. And I felt “boxed in.”

 

I would be in the crowd at concerts, and the guitarists made it look so easy like they weren’t even trying.

 

Honestly, I always dreamed of the crowd admiring ME on stage.

What was I missing?

 

And then...

 

I happened to hear an offhand comment from a Colombian Jazz guitarist.

 

And it sparked something inside of me…

It got me thinking about a completely different approach to lead guitar.

 

A new way. Based on feel.

 

This was my “lightbulb moment.”

 

When I moved past the theory and started playing by feel, guitar suddenly made sense.

And in the next few months, I went on to play concerts and even record in studios…

 

But the best part was that I was finally expressing myself on the fretboard.

 

I was truly making my own music.

 

Fast forward a bit more, and I opened a private music school… where I was frankly surprised that my students were experiencing the same problems I had.

 

They were coming to me because the “hard way” wasn’t working for them either.

 

So I taught them my method of playing by feel.

They kept asking me - almost pressuring me - to start sharing this with more and more people.
